Beulah Bollman
Beulah G. Bollman, 92, of rural Harpers Ferry died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at her home. Funeral services were held Monday, November 12 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona Center, in Monona, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery, Rossville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Beulah's name.
Beulah Grace Bollman was born October 16, 1915 on the Gjefle family farm in Jefferson Township, rural Rossville. She was the daughter of Edmund George and Hannah Otilda (Gjefle) McClintock. She was baptized and confirmed at the Rossville Presbyterian Church and attended school in Rossville and Waterville High School. After her schooling she worked as a hired girl for several area families.
January 2, 1936 Beulah married Beacher Bollman at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Monona. They farmed together for a number of years, with Beulah helping with all the chores as well as hauling livestock in their trucks. In 1956 they moved to Waterville, where they operated Bollman's DX Station until moving to Cresco in 1958 and opening another service station by the same name. She was an active worker at both of the stations and while in Cresco she also began driving school bus.
Beulah and Beacher moved to Van Horne in 1967, where she continued to drive school bus as well as doing cleaning at the school and housekeeping work for families throughout the area. They retired in 1985 and moved back to Allamakee County, where they have lived in Ion, in rural Harpers Ferry, ever since.
Beulah was a member of the Methodist Church in most of the places they lived and was currently a member of Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona Center, and its Ruth Circle. She was an active member and former office holder of the American Legion Auxiliary in National, Cresco, and Harpers Ferry and the VFW Auxiliary in Cresco and Waukon. She had a life-long love of music and enjoyed dancing as well as playing the pump organ, accordion, and violin.
An avid outdoor lover, Beulah enjoyed raising a garden, growing flowers, fishing, and feeding and watching the birds. Playing cards and reading were some of her other favorite pastimes. Beulah and Beacher had traveled throughout a lot of the United States and enjoyed spending several winters together in Arizona. Above all else, her favorite times were those she spent with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Beacher, of rural Harpers Ferry; three children, Bonnie (LeRoy) Jones of Harpers Ferry, Boyd (Mary) Bollman of Cresco, and Bev Bollman of Silverton, OR; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leo (Katie) McClintock of Rice Lake, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Sidney McClintock; and a sister, Iona Larson.
Casketbearers were her grandchildren, Dale, Paul, Loren, Mark, Russell, Gary, and Keith Jones, Cindy Moose, Rick, Ron, and Don Bollman, Laura Mareck, Lisa Diersen, Kristin Osborn, and Larry and Pat Enderle.
