Funeral services for Jamey Ash were held Friday, January 14, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa, with Rev. Allen Hermeier officiating. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Jamey Alan Ash, son of Gary Roger and Cheryl Jean (Nyberg) Ash was born December 9, 1958, in Las Vegas, Nev. He died suddenly, Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at age 46.

Jamey was baptized into the Lutheran faith on April 12, 1959, in Las Vegas and confirmed April 27, 1975, by Rev. Norman Ullestad in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He attended the Postville School and graduated in 1977. Jamey worked in the Nyberg Farm Supply Store following graduation and was also employed at the Ford Dealership in Postville. He was presently employed by the Postville School District.

Jamey was a devoted son, brother, grandson, nephew, and uncle. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Jets fan and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. He also enjoyed following the events of the John F. Kennedy family. The true love of his life was spending time with his nieces and nephew and watching them participate in their many activities. Jamey will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved
him. Jamey was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Surviving are his parents, Gary Roger Ash of Postville and Cheryl Jean Ash, of Waukon; a sister, Melisa "Missy" (Gary) Lehmann of Elgin; a brother, Carey (Jean) Ash of Cedar Rapids; his maternal grandmother, Jacqueline (Keith) Schroeder of Waukon; four nieces, Erica, Tonya, and Brianna Lehmann and Emily Ash; and one nephew, Austin Ash. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles: Alan Nyberg of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Kathy (John) Cox of Des Moines, David (Jennifer) Schroeder of Des Moines, and Charles Ash of Fayette, Iowa; many cousins: Shannon Nyberg, Troy Hartman, Dustin (Diane) Hartman, Amanda Schroeder, Brent (Kelley) Wright, Shelly (Ken) Frank, and many other special cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Allard Nyberg; his paternal grandmother, Ruth Aanes; his paternal grandfather, Ronnie Ash; and an aunt, Karen Wright.

Casketbearers were Mark Schroeder, Larry Schroeder, Scott Fritz, Marty Looney, Jeff Olson, and Thomas Junge. Honorary casketbearers were Jeff Lehmann, Bruce Lehmann, Leonard Benson, and James Roland.
