Helen M. (Ferring) Spinner, age 94, of Lansing passed away at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing Friday, November 2, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, November 5 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, with Fr. Daniel Knipper and Msgr. Edward Lechtenberg concelebrating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing.
She was born December 29, 1912 in rural Lansing to Henry and Inga (Evenson) Ferring. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing and then attended and graduated from the Registered Nurse program at St. Francis School of Nursing in LaCrosse, WI. October 5, 1937 she married Norbert (Nubs) Spinner at Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing. They lived in the Lansing area their entire lives.
As a homemaker, Helen took great pride in her home and enjoyed entertaining her family and many friends. She particularly liked playing cards and golf. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Helen is survived by four children, Richard (Pat) Spinner of Lansing, Gerald (Eleanor) Spinner of Eagan, MN, Sandra (Nelson) Fleming of Buena Vista, CO, and Roger (Ann) Spinner of Lino Lakes, MN; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Ferring of Lansing.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nubs, October 21, 2000; and two sisters, Ruth Livingston and Dorothy Schwartzhoff.
Casketbearers were Heidi Darling, Mike McCurdy, Chris McCurdy, Trei Fleming, Jean Spinner, Jody Spinner, Jim Spinner, Nick Spinner, and Jeff Spinner.
