ADOLPH NELSON

Adolph Nelson, 96, a resident here since 1927 and a retired General Motors employee, died last night at Skaalen Sunset Home, Stoughton.

Born Jan. 4, 1872 at Waukon, Iowa, he moved to Minnesota and North Dakota with his parents, Carl and Amelia Erickson Nelson, who were pioneer homestead farmers in the area.

He was married Dec. 14, 1898 to Lena Nelson, She died Nov. 9, 1948.

Mr. Nelson was a blacksmith and implement dealer in North Dakota until coming to Janesville in 1927. He was employed as a blacksmith in the maintenance department of Chevrolet Division, General Motors until his retirement in 1942. He was employed at his trade until 1960.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Surviving are a son, Roy, and four daughters, Mmes. Rudolph Carlson, Clarence Dittmer, Emory Dittmer, and Clarence Forslund, all of Janesville; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Helmer, Jasper, Minn., and two brothers, Christ and Otto, and a sister, Mrs. Nora Rasmussen, all of Barronette, Wis.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Faith Lutheran Church with burial in Oakhill Cemetery. Friends may call tomorrow afternoon and evening at the Wolfgram Funeral Home and at the church from noon until time of services Friday.
