Funeral services were held last Thursday for Albert O. Nelson at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. H.E. Nyhus officiating. Pallbearers were John Brekke, George Olson, Ed Gullickson, Homer DeLano, Christ Nelson, and John C. Becker.
Born in Waukon, Iowa, July 23, 1876, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilman Nelson. On March 1, 1905 he married Julia Hanson and to this union five children were born. Surviving his death on May 26 after an illness of three months are his wife and children, Mrs. Dewey Larson, Cumberland; Mrs. Walter Cronk, Turtle Lake; Chester, Hartland; and Walter, also of this city. There are 10 grandchildren and two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Minnie Hanson, Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Mrs. Emma Kaeser, Waukon, Iowa; Ole G. Nelson, Waukon; and Edwin C. Nelson of Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
Mr. and Mrs. Nelson spent the first few years after their marriage in Waukon before moving to Cumbereland. They settled in the Timberland community where they lived for about 40 years until four years ago when they retired from farming and moved into Cumberland.
Mr. Nelson was active in church and community affairs, and was a member of the Timberland Lutheran Church, later transferring to First Lutheran Church.
