Francis Gallagher, 82 of Everett, Wash., died Saturday, October 19, 2002. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Burial was in National Veterans Cemetery, Kent, Wash. Francis (Frank) James Gallagher was born April 3, 1920, at the Waukon home of his parents, Patrick Henry and Mary C. (Collins) Gallagher. He served in the U.S. Army 12th Armored Division 23 Hq. Bn. during World War II. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star decorations. On December 13, 1945, he married Eunice Fay Wallar in Chicago, Ill. The couple resided in Seattle, Wash., where Frank was a quality control planner for the Boeing Corporation. She passed away on April 12, 1997. Frank loved to travel and he went to far away places, but he always liked coming home to Waukon. He loved to drive and tell a good Irish joke. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but he will live in the thoughts and hearts of his family forever. Survivors include his three sons, James M. Gallagher of Woodenville, Wash., Patrick F. Gallagher of Hansville, Wash., and Thomas J. Gallagher of Lake Stevens, Wash.; one daughter, Rebecca G. Quetone of Tallahassee, Fla.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one brother, Patrick M. (Roberta) Gallagher of Ankeny; and two sisters, Rosanna (Bernard) Meyer of Prairie du Chien and Mary G. (Carl) Lodico of Las Vegas, Nev.
