Sandra Kay Thornton

Funeral services were conducted from the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, January 5 at 1:30 p.m. for Sandra Kay Thornton, 17, who died in an auto accident north of Hawkeye, January 3. The Rev. Ronald Spears officiated.

Sandra Kay Thornton was born September 15, 1955 at Waterloo. She was one of nine children born to Lloyd and LaVanda (Suckow) Thornton. Sandra was baptized in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, by the Rev. Wm. Adix. She was a student at North high School, West Union.

Sandra is survived by her parents, Lloyd and LaVanda Thornton, six sisters: Mrs. Don (Mary) Simmons of Waterloo, Mrs. Willis (Lois) Ott of Alpha, Mrs. Fred (DeLores) Peverill, Mrs, James (Joann) Jordan, Mrs. Mervin (Norma) Adams, all of Waterloo and Mrs. James (Karen) Wygle of LaPorte; two brothers, Earl and Donald of Waterloo; her maternal grandparents, ten nieces and 11 nephews. Her paternal grandparents preceded her in death.

Interment was in the Smithfield Cemetery, Luana.
