Funeral services for Eva Eberling were held Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa with the Reverends Steve Brackett and Dave L. Lenth officiating. Special music was provided by Joan Martins, organist. The Casket Bearers were her grandchildren, Kelly, Jeremiah, Abby, Zachary, Tristen, Tanner, Keegan and Cayden. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Eva Jane (Jordahl) Eberling was born February 24, 1941, daughter of Joseph and Ellen (Rosendahl) Jordahl at the family home near Decorah, Iowa. She passed away, Saturday, October 13, 2007, in Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 19 days.
She was baptized at home and confirmed at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church. Eva attended the Red Oak Country School near home and graduated from Decorah High School 1959.
On April 27, 1962 she was united in marriage to Lee Allan Eberling at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church near Decorah, IA. The couple had met at "Art's Roller Rink" at Ossian. To this union six children were born.
Eva was a true farm wife, helping her husband and was very active in the 4-H organization, both on a local and county level. She enjoyed cross stitching, knitting and making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was also known for her baking including her "Santa" cookies and cake decorating. Her children and grandchildren were very important to her and she attended their school activities. Eva liked to travel on the bus trips and attend the theater programs.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Karlton Eberling.
Surviving are her husband; Lee Allan, her children; Lori (David) Schoenfeldt of McGregor; Scott (Deb) Eberling of Postville, Jeffrey Eberling, Litchfield, MN; Daniel (Cami) Eberling, Montezuma, KS; Lynette Eberling, Prairie du Chien, WI; David (Stephane) Eberling, Dubuque, IA; her grandchildren; Kelly and Jeremiah Schoenfeldt; Abby and Zachary Eberling; Tristen and Tanner Eberling; Keegan Eberling and Cayden Koehn.
She is also survived by a brother Wayne (Nancy) Jordahl of Decorah; a sister-in-law, Shirley Eberling of Postville and an uncle, Leif Samuelson of Decorah.
Eva was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia where she was active in the Women of the ELCA.
