Fred Jacob Kumpf, 44, of rural Decorah died Saturday, November 24, 1979, at Veterans Memorial hospital in Waukon.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 27 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist church in Decorah with burial in the Lutheran cemetery. The Rev. David W. Ash officiated and pallbearers were Gaylord Spores, Sheldon Spores, William Lunde, Donald Dehning, Merlin Nelson and Darrell Spores. Corrine Goellnitz was organist with Mrs. Cheryl York soloist.
He was born May 2, 1935 in Dorchester to Floyd and Bessie (Smith) Kumpf. He attended Waukon public schools and married Sharon Spores May 3, 1958 in Dorchester. He was employed at Deco company in Decorah. He had lived in the Dorchester and Decorah area and was a member of the Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife; one child, Kimberly at home; his mother; two brothers, Nathan and Neil Kumpf of Dorchester; and three sisters, Sheila Nelson of Dorchester; and Mrs. Irvin (Dorine) Muller and Mrs. Henry (Audrey) Rogen/Rogan of Rockford, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Norval.
Steine funeral home in Decorah was in charge of arrangements.
