Victor Amundson
Victor L. Amundson, 71, of 5310 Saratoga Road, died Friday, August 31, 2007 at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
He was born October 9, 1935, in Postville, son of Martin and Mabel (Helgerson) Amundson. He married Karen Crispin on December 13, 1958.
Victor was born and raised in Postville, Iowa. He graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa with a degree in music and education. He received a master's degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
Victor had a forty year career in education, which included teaching vocal music and being an elementary and middle school principal in the school districts of Ballard (Huxley), Ar-We-Va (Westside) and Iowa Falls.
Victor and Karen have resided in Dubuque since his retirement in 1997.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Clubs in Iowa Falls and Dubuque, the Mid-Iowa Men of Song (gospel quartet) in Iowa Falls, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Dubuque, and a church choir member in all the communities where he lived.
Surviving are his wife, Karen, of Dubuque; his daughters, Kathy (Jack) Christensen, of Polk City, Iowa and Lori (David) Meyer of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Jodi (Ryan) Christensen Junge, of Van Horne, Iowa, Todd Christensen of Polk City, Iowa and A. J., Quinn and Dietrich Meyer of Dubuque; his great-granddaughter, Zoey Junge of Van Horne, Iowa; his sister, Arlene Bockoven, of Rutherfordton, N.C.; his brother, Roger (Lois) Amundson, of Clermont, Iowa and 28 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Norman, Joe and Wayne.
Memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Leukemia/ Lymphoma Society.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Hermann and his wonderful staff members; Gayle, Judy, Sandy, Linda, and Sara and Pastor Arnold Flater.
