Dayton Lenth

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 11:00 a. m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, with the Reverend Christopher Staley officiating. Visitation will take place before the service on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Luana, Iowa, with military honors.

Dayton August Lenth was born May 19, 1950 at Postville, Iowa, to Edwin August and Ethel Mae (Weller) Lenth. He passed away Saturday, June 9, 2007 in the Iowa Veterans Home at Marshalltown, Iowa, at the age of 57.

Dayton graduated from Postville High School in 1969. He entered the U. S. Army June 11, 1969 and served until June 10, 1975, which included time stationed in Korea. He was married to Tina Lowe from 1974 to 1986. They were the parents of two daughters, Daniela and Dannetta, one son, Dayton Lenth, Jr., and two stepchildren, James and Micah Canny.

Dayton attended a Power Line School in Sheldon, Iowa. He had been employed by Power Companies in Kansas City and in the southern United States. Dayton had lived in the Bloomfield, Iowa area as well. He became a resident of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa on March 18, 1996, after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Dayton eventually became unable to care for himself.

Dayton is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Sharon Bigler.

Surviving are his children, Daniela (Brian) Springer, Kalona, IA, Dannetta (Roger) Miller, Newton, MO, Dayton Lenth, Jr., Illinois, James Canny, stationed in Iraq, and Micah Canny, Bloomfield, IA. Also surviving are two sisters, Lavon (Clair) Borseth, Decorah, IA, and Karilyn Lenth, Clermont, FL, three brothers, Verland (Ellen) Lenth, Waukon, IA, Eldon K. (Carol) Lenth, Dekalb, TX, Dale (Sue) Lenth, Castalia,
