AUGUST SNITKER 1884-1957

August Snitker, who had lived in Allamakee county all his life, died at the Waukon Memorial Hospital early Monday morning, December 16, 1957, following an illness of about two weeks. His funeral was held at 1:30 on Wednesday, December 18, 1957, from the Martin Funeral home in Waukon and at 2:00 o'clock from the Salem Reformed church of Ludlow. The Rev. Walter Clausing officiated.

Mr. Snitker was born July 16, 1884 in Ludlow township, the son of Herman and Amelia Bunde Snitker. He was educated in the local schools and farmed in the county all his life. He and Martha Becker were married April 10, 1913 at the Simon Becker home.

Mrs. Snitker survives as do the following children: Mildred, Mrs. Roy Sohn, of Newton, Wisconsin; Norma, Mrs. Niles Kruger; Inez, Mrs. Gus Gerleman of Cedar Rapids; Loraine, Mrs. Elmer Kruger of Postville; Florence, Mrs. Leonard Koenig of Castalia; Ralph at home; Ruby, Mrs. Loren Koenig of Castalia; LaVerne, Mrs. Donald Koester of Eldorado; a twin child died in infancy. Mr. Snitker also leaves one brother, Herman of Postville, one sister, Mrs. Alolph Bebermeier of Newton, Wisconsin. There are 23 grandchildren.
