Luther Harlan Heins, son of Fredrich and Anna Nuehring Heins, was born Oct 30, 1932, in Postville. He was baptized Dec. 17, 1932, in St Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville, by the Rev Garten. He was confirmed April 14, 1946, in St Paul's Lutheran Church by the Rev Fredrick Ludwig. He received his education at Postville High School, graduating in 1950.
Luther was united in marriage to Dorothy Wagner on Dec. 18, 1951, in Luana Methodist Church. To this union four children were born.
Luther and his family farmed north of Luana for 24 years, moving in 1975 to Monona, where they resided at his death. He was employed at Three Rivers FS, Elkader, as a petroleum specialist. The last seven years he had worked for German Farmers Mutual as an insurance adjuster.
Luther passed away at Rochester Methodist Hospital on Sept 18, 1996, having attained the age of 63 years, 10 months, 18 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Fredich; two sisters, Edna and Aurelia; and one brother Harlan.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; two sons, Jeffrey Lynn Heins of Luana and Jerome Lee Heins of Tavares, Fla.; two daughters, Amy Lou Parnes of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Annette Kay Schmiechen of Westminster, Colo,; nine granchildren: Penny, Patricia, Candace and Crystal Heins, Tiffany and Tyler Heins, Ryan and Kendra Schmiechen and Olivia Heins; one great-grandchild, Chanice Drahn-Heins; one brother, Rolan Heins of Elkader; two sisters, Romilda Koth of Postville and Marcella Millerin of Forest Lake, Minn.
Funeral service for Luther H Heins, 63, of Monona will be Saturday, Sept 21, at 11 a.m. in Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona. Dr Gary Dobbins will officiate. Visitation is today from 3 to 9 p.m. at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona.
Burial: Monona City Cemetery.
