John Nelson

John Joseph Nelson, 40, of Dorchester died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at his home. Memorial services were held Monday, June 11 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dorchester. Father Joseph Schneider officiated and burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dorchester.

McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia assisted the family with arrangements.

John was born November 18, 1966 in Waukon to Merlin and Sheilah (Kumpf) Nelson. He graduated from Waukon High School and Northeast Technical College in Calmar, where he studied to be an electrician. He worked at Northern Engraving in Spring Grove, MN.

John collected antiques; some of them were coin operated machines, knives, old Coke machines, juke boxes and signs. He enjoyed going to rummage sales and auctions.

He is survived by his parents of Dorchester; his daughter, Jenna Nelson of LaCrosse, WI; his soon to be born grandson, Hayden; his siblings, Judy, Jim, Joyce, Jane and Jennifer; his dog, Dawson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; an uncle, Neil Kumpf; and his dog, Lucy.
