Services Are Held For Mrs. H. Sebastian
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 20 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Mrs. Harlan Sebastian, who died June 17 at the Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Intern William Ketchie officiated.
Bernice Gertrude Sebastian, daughter of Albert and Marie Johnson Moen, was born December 1, 1914 in Glenwood Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa.
She was baptized in Washington Prairie Church, December 19, 1914 and confirmed in Glenwood Lutheran Church April 21, 1929. She attended the Decorah high school for two years and graduated from the Waukon high school in 1933.
In 1936 she was united in marriage with Harlan Sebastian. They lived on the home farm until 1956. They built the Zephyr Drive-In in 1953 and operated it for several years. For the past eight years she was a clerk at the Iowa Liquor Store.
Preceding her in death were her father, her sisters, Vivian, [Mrs. Max Williams],
Sylvia, Mallene and one in infancy.Survivors include her husband and a son Randy of Postville; a grandson; her mother, Mrs. Marie Moen, Waukon; three brothers, Amos Moen, Rock Island, Illinois; Ralph Moen, East Moline, Illinois and Rudolph Moen of Waukon; four sisters: Mrs. Leonard (Thelma) Larson and Mrs. Lyle (Erma) Williams, both of Waukon; Mrs. Harvey (Carlotta) Standorf, McGregor and Mrs. Paul (Arla) Coons of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Mrs. Sebastian was an active member of the Eastern Star, Business and Professional Women and the Lutheran Church women.
Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.
