Rites Held For F. Wittenberger

Frank Teeple Wittenberger, the son of John C. and Ida Teeple Wittenberger, was born on April 24, 1915 at East Dubuque, Illinois, and passed away on January 16, 1967, at the age of 51 years, eight months, and 22 days.

Frank had his schooling in Savannah, Illinois and was graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois, under the R. O. T. C. program. He was in the U. S. Army for 11 years and then came here to farm until the time of his sudden death.

On September 5, 1937, he was united in marriage to Francis Houck at Valparaiso, Indiana. The couple were parents of six children; Frank Jo, Knoxville, Illinois; John, Penfield, New York; Janice, Waterloo; James, Judith and Jean at home. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, and was active in the work of Farm Bureau and the American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Marjorie. Survivors include his wife, Francis; his six children, and two grandchildren; one sister, Marian Wittenberger of Phoenix, Arizona; and other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held in the St. Paul's Methodist Church, Waukon, on Thursday, January 19, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Leonard Root and the Rev. Dick Harberts participating.
