Mildred L. Storla, 84, of 546 W. Locust St., died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1922, on the family farmstead in Allamakee County, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Lydia (Saevert) Johnson.

Mildred was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa. She attended Lycurus Grade School in Waukon.

She worked as a P.N. at Sherman Hospital and Waukon Hospital, both in Waukon.

She married Ove J. Storla on Dec. 19, 1940. She had been a resident of Dubuque since 1941.

She was a merchandise manager with Montgomery Wards for 321/2 years, retiring in 1983.

Mildred was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for the past 65 years.

She enjoyed her family and friends very much, often entertaining and cooking meals and holiday dinners. She also enjoyed fishing and tending to her flowers, both at her home in Dubuque, and at her summer home in Harpers Ferry, Iowa.

Mildred had numerous interests: gardening, canning, cards and visiting family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Ove J. Storla, of Dubuque; and her children, DuWayne (and friend, Flora Wang) Storla, of Dickeyville, Wis., Carol Storla, of La Crosse, Wis., and Curtis (Diane) Storla, of Harpers Ferry. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lorine Halvorson, Evelyn Gilson and Gladys Larson, all of Waukon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lillian Gilbertson and Catherine Knuppe Hansen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church and St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Fund.

The Storla family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Dall and his nurse, Tonya, Dr. Shaw, Dr. Baer, Dr. Whalen, the staffs and The Finley Hospital and Tri-State Dialysis, and special friends, Frannie and Bill Byrnes, Bonnie Rissman, Mary and Walt Oberhouse and Arvid and Hedy Leas.
