Mary Christina Fish was born in Benton County, Iowa August 17, 1869 daughter of Henry Fish and Elizabeth Jane Miller Fish. When young she moved with others to Peoria County, Illinois, where she was united in marriage with George P. Meskimen July 1 1891. She leaves six living children, one Edith, by former deceased husband Whitney Ellsworth.

She has been a sufferer with appendicitis from time to time for several months. A few days before her death she was taken to the hospital at Decorah, and all was done for her that could be done. She died August 7, 1916 aged 46 years, 11 months and 21 days.

She and her family came from Illinois to this county twenty-four years since, and this has been her home since then, and in that time she had made many friends. A large concourse of people gathered at the home near Forest Mills on August 9, to pay the last sad respects to her.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Van Nice, and burial at the Rossville Cemetery.

Mary Christina was sister to, Thomas, Isaac (Jake), Eli, Edward, George, and Otto Fish and sister to Mrs. Frank (Emile Jane) Barr and Mrs. Martha L. Barr
