Death Comes Suddenly To Mrs. Andrew Hirth

Lansing friends and relatives were shocked and saddened Saturday morning when they learned of the passing of Mrs. Andrew Hirth at her home on North street, following a second paralytic stroke, the first one being a couple of days previous, and many had not heard of her illness.

Deceased's maiden name was Eva Munz and she was born October 25,1861, in French Creek township, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Munz, pioneers of Allamakee county, where she resided all her life. On May 6, 1884, she was united in marriage to Andrew Hirth, who survives her. They had no children; but raised an orphan boy, Glen Clark, as their son, giving him a good home during his childhood and assisting him in many ways. The Hirths lived on their big New Galena farm until 1905, when they moved to Lansing, which has since been their home.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hirth is survived by one sister, Mrs. Hannah Ashbacher of French Creek; one brother, Gotlieb Munz; a number of nieces and nephews; besides a host of friends--both in town and country; who will ever cherish her memory. She was a member of the Mays Prairie Methodist church, and also contributed willingly to the support of local churches. A true Christian woman, she devoted her life mainly to her home interests and friends, where she will be sadly missed by the bereaved and lonely husband. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the home in Lansing. Rev. G.W. Cramer of Calvary Evangelical church, had charge of the services, as well as conducting the graveside prayers at the family lot there, where interment was made. Music at the home service was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. George Aschom, the latter as accompanist, and Misses Ada Bauman and Elsie Moellerman. They chose two beautiful hymns--"The Mearer, the Sweeter," and "O Morning Land."

Casket bearers were Ben and Geo. Decker, Tade Wendel, Kermit Hirth, George and Tade Munz.
