THE SILENT REAPER
Cuts down that Rarest of Flowers in Life's Garden, a Loving and Beloved Mother.

Again the Reaper, Death, has entered a happy home, and taken away one who was dearly beloved, and called the mother, Mrs. Dora Leppert, to her eternal home.

Mrs. Leppert was born on Aug. 2nd, 1856, at Dubuque, Iowa. After attending school there, she removed with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E. Wiehe, to New Albin, Iowa, and Later to Lansing, Iowa, where she resided until her marriage to Mr. Philip Leppert on March 5th, 1878, thence going to the farm in French Creek township, which has since been her home.

Six children blessed this union, two of whom, Anna and Arthur, together with the husband, had preceded her home. The remaining four, Louise, Sadie, Andrew and Clarence at home, were with her at the time of her demise.

Mrs. Leppert was a model wife, mother and house-keeper, and never so happy as when she had her children about her. Never has it been the writer's privilege to enter a home where more harmony, peace and love existed between brothers and sisters and mother as was found here in the home... She was a good Christian woman, having been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, and before the end came, telling her pastor that all was well between herself and her God, and that she was ready when He called.

All that loving hands and medical skill could do was done, but all of no avail, and after about eight weeks of suffering which she bore very patiently, she passed peacefully away on the morning of October 6th, 1923, aged 67 years, 2 months and 4 days, and she was laid away in beautiful Oak Hill beside her loved ones gone before, and tho' she will be missed ah! so sadly!
there is the cheerful assurance that we shall meet again in that happy land, where will be no more tears of parting.

The funeral was held from the German Presbyterian church, Lansing, where Mrs. Leppert stood as a bride 45 years ago.

Besides the four children, two brothers, William, of Clinton, Iowa, and Aug. C. of McCook, Nebr. , and a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn her loss.

May God rest her soul in everlasting peace.
