He was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church where he remained a lifelong member.
He was educated in the rural New Albin elementary schools and attended Valders Business College in Decorah.
Following schooling, Leonard took a rural mail route near Dorchester for the United States Postal Service. He continued that route while living in Dorchester for over 44 years.
Leonard married Evelyn Leas on October 14, 1956 at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church. They continued to live in Dorchester until Leonard's retirement in the early 1960's when they moved to Waukon.
Leonard was active in Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church and formerly served as an Elder. He was an avid hunter, liked gardening, and enjoyed flowers and traveling.
A very social person, he seldom missed an opportunity to gather with friends at a community event or special occasion and was noted for his pleasant smile and love of children. He remained amazingly active in his advancing years until a recent and very brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Romaine (1985), a son-in-law Frank Garcia (1991), brothers Harold, Charles, Stanley, Frank, Eben, Floyd, Arthur, Joseph & William, and a sister Hazel Weber.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, daughter Gloria Garcia and daughter-in-law Marian Beardmore, both of La Crosse as well as 5 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren.
Blessed be his memory among us.
