Donald Frank Rose, born April 9, 1925 in Postville, Iowa, passed away, February 8, 2007 in Youngtown, Arizona. Parents Arbie Rose and Hattie Reinhardt Rose. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Postville. He attended Grand Meadow rural school and graduated from Postville High School. At age 5, he moved with his family to a farm on Gunder Road where he farmed and lived after retirement. He also painted with his Grandpa Reinhardt, Fred and Harry Landt for many years. For several years he was an assessor in Grand Meadow Township. He helped Dr. Schneider at the Postville Sale Barn every Tuesday for years. He spent winters in Phoenix and Sun City, AZ, and in 2003 sold the farm and moved to Sun City, AZ. Don married Kathleen Duncan at St. Joseph's Church in Cresco, Iowa, on August 19, 1947. They had two children, Steven and Susan. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, fishing and listening to music. He was interested in history, antiques and wood working. Grandchildren were special to him. He was a member of the St. Bridget's Church in Postville and then Church of St. Joachim and St. Anne in Sun City. Don was preceded in death by a brother Merle, who died in infancy, his parents Arbie and Hattie Rose, brother-in-laws, Edgar Garrett and Angelo Duncan and sister-in-law Hazel Duncan. Don is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of 59 years, son Steven (Sue) Rose, of Peoria, AZ, daughter Susan (Jerry) Mauro of Phoenix, AZ, sisters Ivanell Carr, Jeanette (LaVern) Johnson of Postville, Iowa, grandchildren, Chris (Jill) Mauro, Kirby Mauro, Lindsey Rose, Brax Rose and great grandchild, Brenna Rose, sister-in-law Devota Garrett, brother-in-law Gene (Jeanette) Duncan and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2007 from 6 - 7:00 P.M. at Menke Funeral home chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ, services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at 10:30 A.M., at St. Joachim & St. Anne Catholic Church, 11625 N. 111th Ave., Sun City, AZ. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations me made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
