Robert Hyle Somermeyer, 68, New Albin, died Sunday, March 24, 1991, in Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, WI.
He was born February 3, 1923, in Jefferson Township, Houston county, MN, to Otto and Elsie (Arndt) Somermeyer.
He married Patricia Crowley, July 4, 1952, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, IA.
He was in the U.S. Navy where he served abroad. He was on the U.S.S. Chicago during World War II. He lived in Madison, WI, most of his life and retired to New Albin. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and of the V.F.W., both in Madison. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Operating Engineers Local 139.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Robert G. (Annie S.) of Madison, WI; two daughters, Marilyn Sue Moore and her husband Donald of Caledonia, MN, and Lisa Dawn Somermeyer of Madison, WI; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Somermeyer of Mount Pleasant, IA, and Milton Somermeyer of New Albin, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
The body will be cremated. Memorial services were held Wednesday, March 27, at 1 p.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin, IA. Rev. Nancy Anderson officiated and burial will be in the City Cemetery.
The Haugen-Roble Funeral Home, Caledonia, MN, was in charge of arrangements.
