Marsha Jan Behrend, 22, of Decorah died Wednesday, April 19 at a Rochester, MN hospital of injuries Sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 21 at Zalmona Presbyterian Church, rural Waukon. The 1 p.m. services were conducted by the Rev. James Jacobson. Burial was in Friedlein Cemetery, Millville township, Clayton county, IA, with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She was born March 4, 1967 in Cedar Rapids, graduated from Waukon High School and was a senior at Luther College, Decorah. She was on the Dean's List and was majoring in music and English. She was a member of Luther College Collegiate Choir, editor of Luther College's "Oneota" publication, and was a lifetime member of Royal Neighbors of America.
She was piano accompanist for many college music functions, and was a published writer in a national publication. She was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her parents, William Behrend and Mrs. Gene (June Grahlman) Sweeney; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emerald Grahlman of Waukon; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Rita Behrend of Arlington; two brothers, Herbert and Matthew of Waukon; two step-sisters, Amy Sweeney of Waukon and Audra Sweeney of Winona, MN, and a step-brother, Pete Sweeney of Waukon.
