Lillian Welper, 84, died Tuesday, March 7, 1989 in Green Lea Manor Nursing Home, Mabel, Minn.
She was born March 11, 1904, in Eitzen, Minn., to August and Alvine (Klinski) Pottratz. She attended school in Wilmington.
On March 9,1923, she married Herbert Welper in New Albin, Ia. They lived in the Hesper, Ia. area most of their married lives. He died February 12, 1973.
Until retiring, she was a nurse's aide at Green Lea Manor. She was a member of Hesper Lutheran Church and its Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and Mabel Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Reginald of Mabel, Minn., Wordean of Caledonia, Minn. and Ronnie of Waterloo, Ia.; seven daughters, Adeline Hoff of Cottage Grove, Minn., Arlyne Tollegson and Lorraine Anderson, both of Mabel, Minn., Marilyn Wyllie of Webster City, Ia., Lou Jean Hoff of Rushford, Minn., Charmie Steine of Loveland, Colo., and Renee Hjerleid of Decorah, Ia.; 43 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd Pottratz of New Albin, Ia. and Milton Pottratz of King City, Mo.; and three sisters, Mable Graeber of Ankeny, Ia. and Sylvia Hegge and Verona Clancy, both of Lansing, Ia.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services were held Saturday, March 11 in Hesper Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald Peterson officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
