Mrs. Gustave Dee
On June 8th, 1929, at 7:30 P. M., Mrs. Augusta Dee, nee Feuerhelm, passed away at her home, at the age of 77 years, 5 mos. and 18 days. She was born in Provinz Brandenburg, Germany, on December 20, 1851, and came to America in 1856, her parents then settling in Waukesha, Wis. Afer ten years they moved to Lansing township, on Mays Prairie, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Gustave Dee, on August 12, 1879, with whom she patiently endured the hardships of pioneer life on a farm in French Creek township. In 1910 they moved to Lansing and residing near the Park were priveleged to enjoy the evening of their environment.
This union was blessed with five children, one of whom, Herbert, at the age of four years, preceded his mother to the Great Beyond. Those who mourn her loss are her beloved husband, Ida, Mrs. Herman Werth of LaMars, Iowa, Edward Dee of Lansing township; Evelyn, Mrs. A. T. Wendel of Church, and Malinda, Mrs. W.D. Cooper of Dubuque, Iowa; also three brothers, Wm. and Fred of South Dakota and Julius of Lansing, and two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Dee of Lansing township and Mrs. John Gebhardt of California.
Deceased was baptised, converted and a member of the Evangelical Church of Mays Prairie until they moved to Lansing, when she joined the German Presbyterian church, from which she was buried June 11th. As a faithful Christian mother, she prayerfully trained and raised her children..The golden wedding was to have been celebrated August 12th. But we do not live , nor endure, for the sake of self; we do live, and believing in the saving power of Christ, endure unto the end, for only then shall we be saved. This quotation from Holy Scripture was her confession and mentioned as her favored verse and therefore to be used as the source of our consolation. (Matt. 24:13).
MOTHER
I often sit and picture mother,
Lying on that downy bed;
With soft white pillows that upraise her,
So as to rest her weary head.
But day by day her health did fail her,
And her once flushed cheeks grew pale;
Her time had come and she must leave us,
Death had sealed with silent veil.
The lips that only spoke in kindness,
And brow serenely white;
And then so cold with perspiration_
Mother went to God that night.***
Card of Thanks
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to neighbors and friends for their sympathy and many acts of kindness rendered during the sickness, death and burial of our beloved wife and mother; also for the beautiful floral tributes tendered
