George Wendel is Interred Monday
Former County Man Lived in Mason City
Lansing---George Wendel, 85, died at Mason City Friday and was buried there on Monday. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wendel and was born on May's Prairie in 1864. He was twice married, to Hannah Hirth, to whom were born five children, and later to Clara Hirth to whom were born two sons, Mr. Wendel was a farmer, and lived for a time at Belmond, then for 44 years in and near Mason City.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Marti of Mason City, Mrs. Gladys Dee of Lansing; Three sons, Howard Wendel, Plymouth and Willard and Harold Wendel of Mason City. Two sisters, Mrs. Tillie Trayer and Mrs. Amelia Frericks of Lansing. He is preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Reisdorf and Mrs. Lydia Dee, and eight brothers and sisters. He has 24 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.
In attendance at the funeral from Lansing were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Revoir, Mrs. Elsie Teff, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Englehorn, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Roeder, Mrs. Robert Trayer, Mrs. Melia Fredricks, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dee, son Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Dee, Earl Wendel, Delbert Dee, Mr. and Mrs. George Aschom and Ruth, John Decker, Mrs. Edgar Erickson, Charles Hirth and from New Albin, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Dee, from Cedar Falls, Dorothy Dee.
