John William Beneke 1919 - 1992

John William Beneke, 73, of New Albin, died Monday, Au茆ust 24, 1992, in Veterans Me衫orial Hospital, Waukon, IA.

He was born January 6, 1919, to Alfred and Emma (Meyer) Beneke in Union City Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. He married Melba Meyer on September 14, 1946, in St. Peter's U.C.C. New Albin. He was a lifelong resident of Union City Township, Allamakee County where he farmed until his retirement He attended rural schools in Union City Township and was a member of St. John's U.C.C. and had served as a member of the Church Council.

Survivors are his wife, Mel苑a, one son, Keith (Faye) Be要eke, New Albin; three daugh負ers, Jane (Ken) Staggemeyer, New Albin; Elizabeth (Tom) McConnick, Harpers Ferry; and Michelle (Bill) Wagner, Mono要a; thirteen grandchildren; and one brother, Alvin Beneke, New Albin.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Louis and two sisters, Anna and Nora (McNul負y).

Services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. John's U.C.C. Wheatland, rural New Albin. The Reverends Lawrence and Laura Odegard officiated and burial was in the church cemet苟ry.

Pall bearers were Bruce Be要eke, Daryl Beneke, Brad Be要eke, Robert Beneke, Randy Be要eke and Wayne Meyer.

Haugen-Roble Funeral Home of Caledonia, MN, was in charge of arrangements.
