The funeral of William L. Haas was held at St. Patrick's Church Monday, June 13, with the requiem mass celebrated by the Reverend Robert Moran. Burial was made in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
Mr. Haas was born at Lycurgus, Aug. 13, 1892, and was 62 years old at the time of his death. He was the son of Johanna Troendle and Daniel Haas. His earlier home was made on a farm near Lycurgus.
He was in service in World War I and spend 10 months in France in 1918.May 10, 1921 his marriage took place to Emma V. Miller at Caledonia, Minn. They were the parents of two children.
Mr. Haas was in the drug business in Waukon for the past 13 years. He was employed at the J.C. Opfer Drug Store, and for the past 20 years was a partner in the Drew and Haas Drug Store.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW organizations.Survivors are his wife, son Ronald, of St. Paul, Minn., and daughter Mary Jeanne, now Mrs. Charles McCarthy of Caledonia, Minn., two grandsons, William and Michael McCarthy. Also a sister Mrs. Edward Duggan, and one brother, Edward Haas, both of Waukon.
Pall bearers for Mr. Haas were James Whalen, Daniel Regan, Lyle Simon, Peter Hendrickson, C.H. Megorden, Matt Ryan, Joseph Denney, and William Denny.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Lena Carroll, and Mrs. Bertha Krier, of Caledonia, Minn.; Anna Aloff, LaCrosse, Wis.; Rose Schubert and Julia Haas, of Dubuque; Susie Haas, Dunkerton; Christina Zabolitzky, Oscar Kerndt, William Troendle, Mike Howe, and Herman Troendle of Lansing; Agnes Rausch, Ft. Atkinson; Mathilda Miller, LaCrosse, and Bernard Schwartzhoff of Cresco.
