Cecil Stahl
Cecil G. Stahl, son of George W. and Amy (Brooks) Stahl was born on April 2, 1899 in rural Allamakee County at Dark Hollow near Forest Mills, Iowa. He died on September 3, 1994 at Good Samaritan Center, Waukon, Iowa. He was 95 years old.
Cecil attended rural Forest Mills school. He was a lifetime resident of the Rossville, Forest Mills area.
On February 7, 1923, he was married to Pearl N. Kuehne in Waukon.
From 1926 until the early 1950's, he ran a grocery and general merchandise store in Rossville. He worked for a time with Waukon Equity as a meat cutter and grocer and later as a self-employed carpenter. He was a former member of the Rossville chapter of I. O. O. F. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, hunting and fishing.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pearl, who died in 1981, brothers Asa, Donald, Sidney, Richard, and Owna Stahl and sister, Mary Hagensick. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Thayer of Decorah, and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday, September 6, 1994 at Martin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Walker officiating. Casket bearers were Everett, Lester and Allen Shahl, William Thayer, George and Elton Thornton. Arrangements were made by the Martin Funeral Home of Waukon. Burial was in the Rossville Cemetery.
