Francis O. Padden

Funeral services were held at the Schutte Funeral Home Friday, August 31, at 2:00 p.m. for Francis Padden, who passed away August 28. The Rev. Walter T. Martin was in charge of the rites. Ray Douglass of Postville and Fred Grant of Decorah were in charge of the Odd Fellows rites at the service. Burial was in the Frankville cemetery.

Oscar Francis Padden, son of Romeo and Lettie Padden, was born January 24, 1886, near Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died at the Postville Community Hospital, August 28, 1956 at the age of 70 years.

He worked on farms around the Frankville vicinity in his younger days. He also worked with I. R. Hughes in well drilling.

In 1905 he was married to Minnie Kraby and to this union one son Oscar was born. The mother passed away when Oscar was 11 months old.

On October 21, 1914 he was married to Ruth Ferris of Church, Iowa.

Oscar Padden was preceded in death by his father Romeo Padden in 1935 and by his mother Lettie Padden in 1949.

He is survived by his wife, one son Oscar of Dubuque, Iowa; three grandchildren, one sister, Lydia, (Mrs. Charles Jones) and one brother, Herb, of Buena Park, California. He is also survived by many relatives and a host of friends.

Francis was a very active member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges until he wasn't able to attend either.
