Chas. M. Stahl Passes Away

The following obituary was published in the Escalon (Cal.) Tribune of Jan. 26, 1923:

Charles Myron Stahl was born in Allamakee County Iowa October 6, 1878 and died near Ripon California January 15, 1923 at the age of 44 yrs. The first twenty-three years of his life were spent near the place of his birth. In 1901 he went to South Dakota, remaining there five years, near and at Chamberlain. He moved to Oregon in the spring of 1906, settling in Benton County where he formed a business partnership with an old friend. Since the business did not require all of his time, he decided to teach school. It was while teaching that he met Evadna Springer who was also a teacher. They were married September 10, 1910, making their home in Philomath Oregon. It was here that the two older children, Francis Clair and Myron Greek were born. In May 1915 he with his family, came to California, having purchased the farm known as the Kincaid place. In 1919, the youngest son, Charles Arden was born.

It was early in that year that Mr. Stahl was affected with an attack of malarial fever, from which he never fully recovered, and on January 15, after several months of serious illness, he peacefully fell asleep, leaving all earthly cares and sorrows behind him.

Surviving him are a wife, three sons, a mother, and five sisters; his father and three brothers having preceded him. The funeral service was held on Friday, January 19, at the Congregational Church in Ripon. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet which sang: "Some Day", "Shall We Meet Beyond the River", and "Jesus Lover of My Soul".

Rev. C. G. Zierk, pastor of the Escalon Methodist Church officiated. Interment was at Parkwiew Cemetery.
