Lifetime area resident Pearl Margaret Ehde, 70, of Waukon died Sunday, Nov. 19, 1989 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Edwin Cabrera officiating. Burial was in the English Bench Cemetery.
She was born March 25, on the family farm, rural Dorchester, to Roy and Lena (Hahn) Sires. She attended rural Dorchester school, Lansing High School and Waukon High School through the 12th grade. May 7, 1937 she married Leo Vernon Ehde in Decorah. Pearl was a nurses aid at Aase haugen in Decorah for 19 years, a Home Health Aid in Allamakee County for three years, and also did some private care nursing.
She was a member of the Scventh Day Adventist Church and its Dorcas Society in Waukon, and the, Sweet Adelines when the group was in Lansing.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Darlena) Herman, Mrs. Ervin (Sharon) Gordon, Mrs. Ron (Marlene) Stegen, all of Waukon, Priscilla Ehde of Rochester, MN, and Mrs. Jerry (Debra) Hilgerson of Postville; 11 grandchildren, and 11 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are eight sisters and brothers, Mrs. Ronald (Sylvia) May of Clayton, Goldie Rocksvold of Waukon, Mrs. Lowell (Opal) Britain of Lincoln, NE, Emerald Grahlman of Waukon, Mrs. Albert (Beryl) Pokorny of Havana, IL, James Sires of Marshalltown, Sardius Sires of Gleneden Beach, OR and Roy T. Sires of Texas.
In addition to her husband, who died March 5, 1975, she was precedcd in death by a daughter Beverly, who died Sept. 26, 1985.
Casket bearers were Stanley Herman, Greg Gordon, David Gordon, Mark Stegen, Marty Stegen, Loren Stegen, Jeremy Hilgerson and Ryan Hilgerson.
