Edna Corrine Kumpf, 87, of Spring Grove, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove. She was born at home in Wilmington Township on September 7, 1915, to Harry and Olga (Woyen) Ellingson. She attended rural school and was a lifelong area resident. On September 24, 1936, she married Walter Kumpf and he preceded her in death in October of 1997. She and her husband farmed in the rural Dorchester, IA, area.
Edna was a member of the United Methodist Church in Caledonia.
She is survived by her son, George (Karen) Kumpf of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Lloyd (Harriet) Ellingson, Spring Grove; three sisters, Ethel Morrison, Luella (Helmer) Ike, and Marjorie (Norton) Rostad, all of Spring Grove; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Kumpf, New Albin.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son in infancy, George Walter and one son, Dwayne, and two sisters, Norma and Harriet.
Services were held Tuesday, October 29 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Caledonia with Pastor Tony Fink officiating. Burial was in the Methodist Cemetery in Dorchester. Friends called on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
