Colin Byrnes Woods, 16, of Effingham, IL entered into Eternal Life at 6:43 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL, as the result of injuries from a play ground accident.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, 2006 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham. The M.A. Neal Funeral Home, Effingham, assisted the family with arrangements. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Effingham Community Foundation designated for BSA Troop 3, the Effingham Sports Complex and the Friends of St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital.

Colin was born March 10, 1990 in Waukon, the son of Dan and Angela (Reynolds) Woods. He was attending school at the Illinois Math & Science Academy in Aurora, IL and had attended fifth through ninth grade at St. Anthony Grade School and High School in Effingham. He also attended grade school at St. Patrick School in Cedar Falls and St. Patrick School in Waukon.

Colin was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Boy Scout Troop #3, varsity soccer team at I.M.S.A. in Aurora, cross country and wrestling teams his freshmen year at St. Anthony, and roller hockey teams at the Effingham YMCA and with Charleston Park District Hockey.

Survivors include his parents Dan and Angela of Effingham; brothers Ryan Carey and Rory Daniel Woods of Effingham; his grandfather William E. Woods of Evergreen Park, IL; his grandparents Roger P. and Margaret B. Reynolds of Mokena, IL; aunts and uncles Larry and Maria Woods of Manhattan Beach, CA, Beth and Ken Wartenberg of Berwyn, IL, Tim and Nancy Woods of Western Springs, IL, Tom and Carol Woods of Orland Park, IL, Peggy and Scott Foster of Midlothian, IL, Jennifer and Joe Conway of Oak Forest, IL, Andy Woods of Evergreen Park, IL, Tom and Lori Reynolds of Chicago, IL, Rosemary Reynolds of Chicago, Geri and Ron Haloup of Amherst, WI, Brian and Gina Reynolds of Minooka, IL, Diane and Jim Walsh of Oak Lawn, IL; and cousins Sean and Logan Woods, Patrick and Jeremiah Woods, Michael, Ian and Madeline Woods, Adam, Matt and Kristen Foster, Maggie, Hannah and Kevin Conway, Kathleen and Stephanie Byrnes, Tamara and Sherlyn Reynolds, Roger Reynolds, Alex and Cora Reynolds, and Stephen Walsh. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Byrnes Woods; and an uncle, Roger M. Reynolds.

Colin lived every minute to the fullest, never a still or dull moment. While shy and unassuming he often found the center of laughter for all around. His life cannot be summed up. He was son, brother, friend, grandson, nephew, cousin, joy.
