Ellen Clancy-Betsinger, age 82, Lansing, died Thursday, August 15, 2002, at Thorton Manor in Lansing. Ellen LaVon Clancy was born in Lansing on September 29, 1919, to James and Violet (Danes) Clancy. She was married to Cletus Betsinger on May 11, 1937, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1974. In 1982, she moved to St. Charles, Ill., and returned to Lansing in 1990. Ellen loved to cook, play cards, and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed caring for her poodle, Molly. Ellen is survived by ten children, Ken (Pam) Betsinger, Faribault, Minn., Rose (Cliff) Johnson, South Elgin, Ill., Donald (Cathy) Betsinger, Bloomington, Minn., George (Carol) Betsinger, Fall River, Wis., William Betsinger, Lansing, Georgia (Ambrose) Murphy, Center Point, Iowa, Mary Hazelwood, St. Charles, Ill., Patricia (Glenn) Wilson, Geneva, Ill., Steve (Kim) Betsinger, Farmington, Minn., and Jeff Betsinger, St. Charles, Ill.; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouse Cletus; a son, Robert; and all nine of her siblings, Rose, Walter "Chip," Don, Renee, George, Loretta, Alice, Edna, and Jim. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2002, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Lansing, with Msgr. Funke officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing assisted with arrangements. Casketberers were James, Joel, Jerry, and Jeff Johnson; Jason Nyberg; and Chris Waxman.
