Robert Hammel
Robert Hammel, 83, of Waukon, died Sunday, September 3, 2006, at Northgate Care Center, Waukon. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 6, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon, with Rev. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, rural Waukon. Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born June 2, 1923, to Charles and Mae (Latronch) Hammel. He served in the Army during World War II.
Robert worked construction. After retiring from that occupation, he also worked for an area farmer. He lived in areas in Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish.
Survivors include a sister, Irene Lewey of Waukon, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vernon (Dorothy) Hammel and Richard (Dottie) Hammel; and three sisters, Josephine (Ernest) Ingels, Rita (Ben) German, and Mary (Tony) Bedner.
