Vessie Fleming's Funeral Is Today at Cedar Falls
(Courier Special Service)Cedar Falls -- Final rites for Mrs. Vessie Mitchell Fleming, 60, former longtime Cedar Falls resident, who died in Mercy hospital, Iowa City, late Friday, will be in the Methodist church here at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Fleming had gone to Iowa City to the home of a daughter only last February. She had been in the hospital only a few days, according to word here yesterday.
She was born Dec. 12, 1889, at Rossville, Ia., daughter of John and Ella (Henderson) Mitchell. She was married to Everett A. Fleming Sept. 22, 1909, at Peosta, Ia., and they moved to Cedar Falls where Mr. Fleming was a rural mail carrier for many years. He died here in 1944.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by four daughters. They include Mrs. Herman Tharp, Iowa City; Mrs. Eilene Lane, Waterloo; Mrs. Thelma Poduska, Denver, Colo. and Mrs. Helen Rich, Los Angeles, Cal.
Mrs. Fleming was a member of First Methodist church here and was also a member of the Rural Letter Carriers association auxiliary.
The body is at the Jungkunz-Nelson funeral home.
