Carletta Hultgren

Carletta Hultgren (75) died April 9, 2006, in the Good Samaritan Center at Waukon, Iowa. The body was cremated. There will be no services.

She was born January 19, 1931 in New Hampton, Iowa, to Harold and Jessie (Rush) Wittenburg. She was married to Carroll Hultgren from 1954 to 1972.

Carletta was graduated from New Hampton High School, Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls, and received a Master of Arts in Education from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa. She taught English at New Hampton and Wilton Junction, prior to a 30-year career at Pleasant Valley High School in Davenport, where she was a mentor to many Merit Scholars. After 34 years of teaching, she retired and moved to Waukon in 1996.

She is survived by her son, Craig (Leisha) Hultgren, of Birmingham, Alabama and a sister, Jamie (Bruce) Adair of Decorah, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Center at 21 E. Main Street, Waukon, Iowa 52172 or to a charity of your choice.
