Esther Kugel

Esther Kugel, 88, of Waukon, died March 1 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 4, 1:30 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, Waukon, Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiated. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Bros. Funeral Home, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

Esther Kugel, daughter of August and Mathilda Stock Hermeier, was born May 24, 1902 on her parents' farm in Ludlow Township. She attended rural school at Ludlow # 1.

She married Carl Kugel January 24, 1923. The couple farmed in Ludlow Township. They did this by using horses until 1948.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Waukon and was a member of the Esther Circle there. She was a lifetime Ludlow resident.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Carl, who died Jan. 23, 1983; a grandson, David Kugel; brothers Edward, Elmer and Fred Hermeier and a sister, Anna Hermeier.

Survivors include: her children, Mrs. Ruth Cooper, Waukon; Mrs. Marjorie Winter, Postville; Mrs. LaVonne Ewing, Waukon; Mrs. Herman (Ileta) Oakland, Waukon, Donald Kugel, Lansing, MI; Roger Kugel, Waukon and Eldo Kugel, Postville.

Pallbearers; Terry Winter, Patrick Burckart, Gary Cooper, Louis Kugel, Jeff Kugel, Johnny Kugel.
