Henry Blumhagen

Henry Blumhagen was born in Strassburg, Uckemarch, Germany on Sept. 21, 1868. Henry died July 12, 1938 in Marion, South Dakota. He came to the United States with his parents, Otto and Caroline Stolzenburg Blumhagen, when he was 15 years old. The first stopped at Postville, Iowa where friends from Germany (the Miller's & the Baltz's) already lived. Soon they located permanently in Bloomfield Township where brother, August, already was farming. Henry married Anna Schutte on May 21, 1896. She was the daughter of Helmuth and Helmine Konow Schutte. They were the parents of 11 children: Mabel, George, Carl, Minnie, Louis, Elsie, Arno, Lloyd, Henry Jr., Alvin & Elda.
