seek ancestor's farm location

I was thinking of driving from N. Ill to Nodaway to seek her grave and drive by their farm. I believe it was a couple miles south of town. Thought I better do some homework first. Is there a historical society nearby, or a person in the area that I could contact ? Are there any plat books available fot the late 1800's, ot the first half of the 1900"s? She died in 1956.

Would appreciate any help.
