Ira Jackson, son of Hannah and Isaac Jackson, was born near Kewanee, Illinois in Henry County, December 23, 1869 and passed away July 3, 1963 at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 11 days. He was one of a family of eight children.
At the age of 13, Ira came to Adams County with his family and resided in Iveyville community the rest of his life.
He was united in marriage to Lillian Little on December 23, 1896. To this union were born two children, Chester and Vida. His wife, passed away on January 2, 1952.
He leaves to mourn his passing besides his two children, one daughter-in-law, 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
He became a member of the Iveyville Methodist Church when a young man. Ira always took a lively interest in his community and welcomed every opportunity to visit with his friends and neighbors.
Services were held from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning, Friday, July 8th, 1963 at 10:00 a.m. rev. Howard Wells conducted there services. Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Albert Lund, Paul Lund, Joe Rubin, Maurice Richard, Clyde Hall, and Loren Fuller.
Music was furnished by two of his grandchildren, Dale Jackson and Mrs. Doris Swartz, accompanied by Mrs. Dick Cook.
