Sarah E. Lockhart was born in Aledo, Illinois, February 2, 1857 and passed away at her home in Corning, Iowa, June 3, 1932 at the age of 745 years, 4 months, and 4 days. In childhood she was brought by her parents to Humboldt, Kansas, where she grew to womanhood.
She was united with Francis A. Griffith, November 1, 1873. To this union eight children were born, two dying in infancy. One daughter, Mrs. C. C. Berry passed away at the age of 29, and one son, Robert in his thirtieth year, the husband preceding her in death on February 18, 1931.
A few years after her marriage they came to Iowa and finally settled in Adams County, where the family was reared and where she resided until the close of her earthly life.
Early in life Mrs. Griffith declared her faith in her Savior and has thru the years held to that faith. When she came to Corning she united with the Christian Church.
Mrs. Griffith has been in poor health for a number of years, but her last sickness was of only one weeks duration. Her transition came as a relief from the cuffing of this earthly life..
She leaves to mourn their loss four children, Mrs. A. B. Condon of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. E. E. Livingston of Doylesville, Colorado; Mrs. W. J. Harper, of Dennison; six grandchildren and many friends.
The funeral service was held at the Boyd Rollin Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 1932 at 3:00 o’clock conducted by Rev. Arthur M. Eastman. The body was laid to rest in the South Cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Griffith
Mrs. Sarah E. Griffith passed away at her home in west Corning Monday morning, June 6 at 8:40, following an illness which had lasted since Memorial Day. Mrs. Griffith had not been well for some time but on that date was compelled to go to bed, and her condition gradually grew more serious. She was cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Alelaid Condon of Des Moines. Funeral services will be held
Wednesday at 2 p. m., at the Boyd Roland Funeral Home, and interment will be made in the South cemetery. She was aged 74 years, 7 months and 26 days.
