Daniel McCarty died at his home in Brooks, Wednesday, February 10, 1922. Funeral services were held Friday in the Brooks M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. E. R. Borst of Brooks and Rev. Mr. Warrior of Prospect. Interment was made in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
Daniel McCarty was born in Pickaway County, Ohio, March 8, 1861. He came to Iowa with his parents when 8 years of age and has since made his home in this state. For a time Mr. McCarty resided in Villisca and his last years were spent in Brooks. He had been in poor health for several years, gradually failing. Mr. McCarty is survived by two brothers, William McCarty of Prescott and Charles McCarty of Villisca, also a number of nephews and nieces and many friends. His father, mother, eight sisters and brothers preceded him in death. Mr. McCarty will be greatly missed.

In the passing of Dan McCarty, Brooks has lost one of her best citizens. It is well in the eternal grind to pause and consider such characters, tried by every test and by every standard, he was a fiend to his fellow man.
