CARR, CHALLENGER, KNERR, JOHNSTON

Henry Franklin Carr, son of Irdill and Elizabeth Challenger Carr, passed away at his home north of Corning, May 10, 1939. Henry was born near Carbon, Iowa, October 18, 1873 and the time of his death he was 85 years, 6 months, and 23 days of age.
Henry was the youngest of eight children. Two sisters, Florence and Emma; two brothers, Tom and Jim preceded him in death. Two brothers, Ankron of Carl, Iowa and Elmer of Nebraska and one sister, Annie Knerr of Corning, Iowa are still living.
On November 13, 1898 he was married to Alice Travers Johnston and to this union were born two sons, Frank o Carl vicinity and one who died in infancy January 11, 1903.
Mr. Carr lived his entire life in Adams County. Having been in failing health for the past year, he suffered a stroke Wednesday and living only a few hours.
By his passing away he leaves his wife, Alice, son Frank and his wife and two granddaughters. Ruth and Maxine; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Carr, who was a mother to him since he was five years old; also two brothers and one sister; several nieces and nephews, besides other relatives and friends.
He was a good husband and a kind father, always considering the welfare of his loved ones before himself. He often expressed his faith in Christ as a Redeemer and strove to live the standard of the Golden Rule.
Winning the love and respect of all who knew him, he will be missed by his companion and family, and the community where he has lived.
Funeral services were Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Methodist Church in Mt. Etna, connoted by Rev. Harry K. Rogers. Interment in the Mt. Etna Cemetery.
