Carrie Agnes Rubin, daughter of Ellis and Sarah Ann Gravett, was born August 31, 1878 on a farm in Davis County and departed this life at 12:20 p.m., June 22, 1954 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Lundquist, Brooks, Iowa at the age of 75 years, 9 months, and 21 days.
She was united in marriage August 31, 1904 to Fred Rubin. They made their home in Adams County on a farm north of Iveyville. In 1936, they moved to Corning. He husband passed away February 13, 1941. The following children were born to this union: Minnie Huntington of Corning; Emmet Rubin of Clarinda, Pauline Lundquist and Joseph Rubin of Brooks; Evelyn Kapple of Red Oak; Edith Bell of Loveland, Colorado; Verda Lyons of Clear Lake. One child died in infancy. She also mothered four step-children, Clarence Rubin of Lenox, Fred Rubin Jr. and Lonnie Rubin of Corning and Loy Onian, deceased.
A lifelong Christian, she was a member of the Iveyville Methodist Church and more recently a loyal attendant to the Methodist Church of Corning. She is survived by her one brother, Harley Bravett of Lenox; one sister of Logan, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 24 at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Corning, Rev. Roland Wendell conducted the services. Music was by Mrs. Blanche Lund and Mrs. Esther Ronald with Mrs. Joe Cook. organist. Burial was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery.
Pall bearers were the grandson, Harry Rubin, Ronald Rubin, Robert Rubin, Ray Cresswell, Drexel Lundquist, and Darwin Lyons.
