Helen Irene Richie, 87, of Corning, was born December 9, 1903 in Cass County, Iowa, near Cumberland, the daughter of Ben and Clara Leap Pond, and died November 28, 1991 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Corning.
On February 9, 1921 she married Charles Richie. He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Adams County, except for a few years when her family homesteaded in Melstone, Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, Doris Maxine; one great grandchild; and a brother, Duane Pond.
She is survived by two daughters, Lucille Downey and her husband Calvin and Kathleen Murdock and her husband Richard, all of Corning; a son Charles Jr. and his wife Virginia also of Corning; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step great grandson and one step great great granddaughter.
Services were held December 1 at Roland Lindsay Chapel with the Rev. Richard Queener officiating. Casket bearers were Stanley Terry and Galen Richie, Curtis Downey, Dean Schaffer, and Jeff Huntsman. Honorary bearer was Doug Downey.
Burial in Oakland Cemetery at Quincy.
