The many friends here of Mrs, John Minert were grieved to hear of the death at the home of her daughter, Mrs, J. M. Findley, at Wellman, Iowa, on Wednesday morning, March 26th. Short funeral services were held at the home in the afternoon and the family left at once with the remains for Nodaway arriving here on No. 3 Thursday. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock at the M. E. Church and interment was made by her husband in the Nodaway Cemetery.
Margaret Josephine, daughter of Thomas D. and Mary E. Brown, was born ay Hillsboro, Ohio, August 15th, 1841, and dies at the home of her daughter in Wellman, Iowa on Wednesday morning, March 20th, 1919, being aged 77 years, 7 months, and 21 days.
She with her family, moved to Iowa soon after the close of the Civil War and on February 20th she was united in marriage to John Minert, to whom she was a faithful and devoted companion to the time of his death four years ago. Four children were born to them, two of whom preceded their mother in death in death. A daughter, Mrs. Jas. Findley, of Wellman, and a son Harry of Omaha, and three grandchildren remain to mourn her departure.
From the time of their marriage until the time of her death, about four years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Minert lived in the vicinity of Nodaway, except about 12 years spent in Adair County. In the year of 1900 they moved to Nodaway where Mr. Minert served as postmaster for eight years and where they were loved and respected by all who knew them.
Mrs. Minert was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and was a true and faithful Christian. Since the death of her husband, she has made her home with her daughter at Wellman, where infirmities of old age kept her closely confined.
We join the many friends of the family here in extending sympathy to her loved ones.
