Jennie A, wife of John Grady died Thursday morning, March 21, 1907 at 9 a.m. at her home near Hayes, of consumption at the age of 29 years, 10 months, and 6 days. Jennie A. Colwell was born near Franklin Grove, Ogel County, Illinois, May 15, 1867.
When by a small child at the age of 12 years, her mother died leaving her the care of the home. The other children, one brother and two sisters being younger than her. Later the father with her and the younger children moved to Adams County, one of the youngest, a daughter was adopted by a lady friend in Franklin Grove, Illinois.
After a few years in Iowa, she was married February 10, 1889 to John Grady at Villisca and thus spent the remainder of her life in Adams County. Having spent the last 12 years at the place where death occurred. To this union was born one chile, which died in infancy. Besides the husband, she leaves one brother. Frank E. Colwell of Hayes, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. Mollie Hunt of Kingsley, Iowa and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
The father, Jason F. Colwell died January 19, 1906 and the other sister, Mina L. Weaver died February 19, 1907, about a month ago at Bovina, Texas.
She was a loving and devoted wife, a kind cheerful and never failing friend bearing her illness to the end with patience and hope.
Funeral services were held at Reno, Friday morning, conducted by Father Nugent, interment made in a cemetery near by.
